Materials influence the character of a home long after the design process is complete. Their texture, weight, warmth, and durability all contribute to how a space is experienced.

We are interested in materials that feel honest in both appearance and use. Rather than disguising their qualities, we prefer to let them express their natural character.

Timber, stone, plaster, brick, and metal each bring different qualities to a project. Some add warmth, others create permanence, softness, contrast, or restraint.

The way materials age is also important. A home should not only look considered when first completed, but continue to gain richness through use, weathering, and time.

A restrained material palette often creates a stronger result than one that tries to do too much. When fewer materials are used carefully, each decision becomes more meaningful.

Detailing plays a significant role in this process. Junctions, edges, transitions, and shadow gaps all influence how materials meet and how a space feels.

Material honesty is not only about aesthetics. It also supports durability, clarity, and a stronger connection between the building and its setting.

Natural materials often respond beautifully to changing light. Their tone and texture shift throughout the day, adding quiet variation without needing additional decoration.

We aim to create interiors that feel calm, tactile, and grounded. The material palette should support the atmosphere of the home rather than compete for attention.

When materials are chosen with care, they help create spaces that feel timeless, comfortable, and deeply connected to everyday living.
